In our most recent update, we addressed how Clear Spider will continue to serve our clients in these challenging times and circumstances surrounding COVID-19. Since then, we have received a few questions from organizations we are working with to implement the Clear Spider inventory management system. We would like to share these questions and our responses with you.
- Is now a good time to implement an inventory management system, even among the chaos around the world?
- With many of our employees working from home, will our employees be able to implement a new system while working outside of the office?
- Should we wait until after the COVID-19 outbreak slows down or ends before we set up our inventory management system?
Here at Clear Spider, we have a number of clients in various stages of system implementation when the COVID-19 outbreak occurred. We see firsthand from our clients the factors in whether now is a good time to start, continue, or complete an inventory management system implementation.
The traditional model of software implementation for businesses recommends:
- Implement during a slower period of business
- Implement and train in incremental instalments
For many of our new clients, since the outbreak started and after settling into the “work from home” routine, we actually noticed that implementation has gone faster than usual. We have also noticed that many of our new clients now have the chance and the time to devote more attention to configuring their inventory management system since business operations have quieted down during this time.
Furthermore, we are noticing much more system training is taking place across many of our new clients. During usual business operations, it is often a challenge to make time for new system training. However, during this slower period of business, more training sessions are scheduled and going ahead as planned since there are fewer interruptions.
In fact, many of our newer clients are optimistic about the implementation of a new inventory management system for their organization. They believe that since they are taking the time and attention to complete the inventory management system set up now, when times are better and regular business operations resume, they will be better positioned to handle the increased demand for their services.
